SBV deploys NetScout solution

SBV Services, a leading South African provider of solutions for the processing, movement and management of cash assets and other high intrinsic value items, has deployed the NetScout nGenius solution for comprehensive, real-time performance management of its large distributed IT infrastructure. SBV's operations are dependent on its IT infrastructure, which includes two major data centres with 70 VMware clusters and 26 remote sites across South Africa, to deliver consistent and high-quality service levels.

SBV selected the nGenius solution from NetScout to provide real-time management of its network and application service levels, and to ensure 24x7 high-speed transaction processing and predictable performance levels despite substantial variations in load and unpredictable surges in transaction volumes.

Architected and deployed by systems integrator Logikal Consulting, a NetScout channel partner for the South Africa region, the solution also covers availability and transaction performance as well as historical and forensic analysis, supporting incident response for service performance and cyber security activities.

Logikal Consulting, a leading multinational systems integrator providing dynamic consulting, expert integration and outsourcing services, recommended and implemented the solution for SBV. "We worked with Logikal Consulting to identify ways to address our performance management needs. With their help, we architected the right strategy," says Ian Plaatjes, Chief Information Officer at SBV. "We looked at several options and Logikal helped us identify the right performance management platform. With NetScout and Logikal, implementation was quick and seamless with no downtime to our business. Consequently, we are already reaping the benefits.

SBV's operations require a highly available and high performance network to ensure continual operations in support of its high risk operations. Consequently, assuring maximum uptime required deep insight into the network and application performance levels. In addition, SBV wanted to move to a more proactive model to be able to identify emerging performance issues that respond to incidents as they arise. The nGenius solution enabled SBV to improve its proactive management capabilities with intelligent early warnings that provide automated detection to predict network and application performance degradations before they occur. In addition, SBV uses the nGenius solution for network and application capacity planning and delivery optimisation in order to maintain high-quality service levels.
