SAP and Discovery Health, a leading and innovative South African medical insurance administrator, are partnering to combine data-driven insights, insurance and healthcare products with a customer-centric engagement platform to enable health insurance businesses to transform into intelligent healthcare enterprises, SAP SE (NYSE: SAP) announced today.
The partnership aims to combine Discovery Health’s industry experience and best-in-class healthcare systems platform with SAP’s world-leading software expertise to yield a unique, cutting-edge, all-inclusive health insurance solution.
With rising inflation and the digitalisation of health, health insurers are looking to transform their systems and operations to realise the benefits of digital and analytics platforms and enhance user experiences. Health insurers are seeking new ways to cut costs, improve customer-centricity and develop more innovative products. SAP is collaborating with Discovery Health to deliver a solution for these needs.

Core elements of the platform will include a rich data layer; a best-in-class insurance offering (including benefits management, claims processing and policy administration, disease management, care co-ordination, and healthcare and wellness elements customised for the user); and omnichannel customer engagement to put consumers at the heart of the platform. With this technology, SAP and Discovery Health aim to revolutionise the health insurance industry and, ultimately, to improve the quality of healthcare worldwide.
