Popular smartphone brand Samsung has expanded its Galaxy A-series collection, unveiling the Galaxy A71 and Galaxy A51, as well as the Galaxy Note10 Lite.

The devices, launched at an event in Sandton, Johannesburg, on Thursday, will be in stores in February, the company has announced.

In a statement, the South Korean electronics manufacturer says the new devices form part of continued efforts to bring “pioneering technology” to all South Africans.

Some of the standout features on the new Galaxy A-series devices include the four-camera set-up, with a 64MP on the A71 and a 48MP camera on the A51. There is also a longer battery life, along with Samsung’s Infinity-O display.

Both the A71 and A51 will have access to Samsung’s ecosystem of apps and services, including Bixby (vision, lens mode and routines), Samsung Pay and Samsung Health. The Galaxy A71 and Galaxy A51 will sell at a recommended retail price of R8 999 and R6 999, respectively.

“We are committed to bridging the gap between flagship features and affordability,” says Justin Hume, director for integrated mobility at Samsung South Africa.

“I believe the Galaxy A-series offers the best value in its segment. Additionally, the power of the Note10 Lite and its famous S Pen is now accessible to more people in South Africa.

“Since its launch last year, the Galaxy A series has become one of the most beloved smartphone ranges. The new Galaxy A71 and Galaxy A51 continue to offer the essential innovations that people love,” Hume adds.

“We know that people want a device that looks good, lasts longer and captures every experience as it happens, and we’re proud to continue to deliver on those needs with the latest Galaxy A devices.”

Turning to the Galaxy Note10 Lite, Samsung says the Lite model builds on the legacy of the Galaxy Note series, bringing features such as the latest camera technology, signature S Pen, immersive display and a long-lasting battery at an accessible price point.

The smartphone maker goes on to say the Galaxy Note Lite is perfectly positioned between the Galaxy A Series and its other flagship devices.

Available in Aura Glow and Aura Black, the Note10 Lite will sell at recommended retail price of R12 999. And much like the A71 and A51, the Note10 Lite also comes with Samsung’s ecosystem of apps and services, including Bixby, Samsung Pay and Samsung Health.

“The Galaxy Note devices have met consumer demands around the world and proven to be popular in South Africa. These devices represent our continuous effort to deliver industry-leading innovations, from performance and power, to intelligence and services,” states Hume. “The Galaxy Note10 Lite, which will be released in South Africa in February, will introduce those distinct key premium features that make up a Galaxy Note experience at an affordable and unrivalled value.”

Other features include a6.7-inch screen size,4 500mAh battery and super-fast charging capabilities, four-camera set-up, and Samsung One UI with Android 10 features will also be offered with the Note10 Lite.
