
Samsung yesterday released the Omnia 7, the company's first device with a Windows Phone 7 operating system.
The Omnia 7 features a 4-inch super amoled touch-screen, a 5MP camera with HD recording, a 1GHz application processor, and a metallic finish. The device includes Microsoft's Xbox Live gaming, and Zune for music and video.
Paulo Ferreira, head of mobile product and business solutions of Samsung, says the company is proud to partner with Microsoft in the latest addition to its smartphone portfolio.
Microsoft's Andy Lees, president of the mobile communications business, states: “Samsung has been a key partner to Microsoft in bringing Windows Phone to customers all over the world.”
Samsung says the phone's features include: Now Hub (a news, weather and stocks service powered by Reuters), and enhanced camera experience with simple and quick photo sharing to multiple social networking sites.
Users are able to download gaming titles from Xbox Live; video and music content from Zune; and can also synch content with their PCs.
The Samsung Omnia 7 is available from Vodacom at a recommended retail price of R5 299.
