Samsung takes on iTunes with music store
Following Samsung's roll-out of the Galaxy S III, the electronics company has unveiled a smartphone music service that allows users to store music in the cloud and stream it for a monthly fee, PC World reports.
The music service is dubbed Music Hub and will initially only be available on the Galaxy S III in Germany, Spain, Italy, France and the UK, but Samsung claims it will soon be offered on a wider selection of devices.
Offering a 19 million song catalogue provided by 7digital, Music Hub Store enables a user to buy songs and albums, as well as listen to 30-second previews of all songs, GoMo News states.
Purchased music is stored in the cloud and automatically appears on all of a user's devices, while music can also be stored locally on devices for offline listening.
Music Hub also has the ability to scan and match a user's music in a method similar to iTunes Match, BGR says.
Not only will the service rival Apple's iTunes, but it will also compete directly against Google Music.
