Samsung in digital entertainment deal
Consumer electronics manufacturers Samsung and Spain's main satellite pay-TV operator Prisa TV's Digital+ have made an agreement regarding the distribution of digital entertainment, reports Rapid TV News.
The deal means the integration of the best audio visual contents of the Spanish market with Samsung's various consumer electronic devices. This will enable Samsung's users to enjoy Digital+ content on their Smart TV sets connected to the Internet and also on Blu-ray players, tablets and mobile phones, among other platforms.
In an initial stage, Digital+ subscribers will be able to access Canal+ content via Internet streaming with their Samsung Smart TV, writes Telecom Paper.
This will include live broadcasts from Canal+ and all other major events, allowing viewers to access, without any additional cost. Subsequent phases will allow all customers with Samsung Smart TVs to access Digital+ content.
According to Emerson Network Power, the two companies will incrementally roll out all of Digital+'s content to Samsung users.
“An enormous transformation is taking place in the distribution of videos and the integration of this distribution with interactive technologies, including social media,” says Kamal Bherwani, DG of the Digital Area of the Prisa Group.
The agreement will allow Digital+ to give its clients top-level entertainment experience, combining best-quality content and interactive experiences. The technology is being utilised in more than 300 000 Spanish homes for video recording and other functionality.
