The SA MWeb Battlefield 3 team has made it to the quarterfinal stage of the ClanBase Nations Cup competition.
According to Colin Webster, president of Mind Sports SA (MSSA), the governing body of e-sports in SA, while competing, the team always behaved with an attitude befitting the very best of South Africans. Webster notes that, without doubt, this is the best e-sports team SA has ever produced.
"It is the first South African team, in a team event, ever to get all the way through to the quarterfinals," he says.
The African victory has brought the MWeb Battlefield 3 team one game closer to the main prize.
In the quarterfinals, the team will face off against Finland. According to MSSA, Finland is renowned for its prowess in e-sports and finished second in a previous Nations Cup.
"Thus, the game between South Africa and Finland will be a fight to the death," says Webster. "Whoever wins goes through to the semi-finals. There is no room for error, and the entire MSSA stands solidly behind the MWeb Battlefield 3 team."
