Global business software supplier JBA has won a lb350,000 order from Ryder plc, the UK subsidiary of Ryder System Inc., the world`s leading supplier of integrated logistics and transport solutions. The deal includes an upgrade to JBA`s System 21 financials software and a new IBMAS/400 server. The new system, which is set to go live in the middle of the year, will ensure that Ryder is millennium compliant.

Ryder plc, supplies vehicle rental, contract hire and logistics services. It is based in Slough, just close to Heathrow Airport, and operates from 70 locations across the UK for customers such as British Airways and Nissan. Having expanded considerably in the last five years, with annual revenue increasing from lb100 million in 1993 to over lb250 million in 1998, Ryder needed to upgrade its software in line with its growth and to ensure it was millennium compliant.

Gary Allcott, the director of finance at Ryder explained his reasons for choosing JBA thus: "Since we started working with JBA in 1990, it has supported Ryder`s growth and development. We are confident in both JBA`s software and the people that we deal with, and are looking forward to continuing our relationship with JBA as we progress into the next century."
