Local Internet service provider (ISP), RSAWeb has reduced its ADSL access prices, and now boasts one of the most affordable ADSL line rental offerings in the country.
By slashing the price of its monthly ADSL line rental by up to 30% (or up to R1 092 per annum), the ISP now undercuts competitors such as Telkom, Axxess and Web Africa. The news will come as a welcome relief to local consumers.
In recent years, SA has seen a price war on Internet data, which has translated into significant savings for consumers, but the price cuts have never spilled over to ADSL line rentals, until now.
According to Rob Gilmour, MD of RSAWeb, the prohibitively high cost of ADSL line rentals is the last obstacle that stands in the way of making broadband more accessible to all South Africans.
“Consumers have benefited from the recent price wars over data, but when you add the cost of line rentals, the barrier still remains too high - especially for the lower income groups that have been hardest hit by recessionary pressures and rampant inflation,” he says.
RSAWeb's new prices, which are available on its consumer capped ADSL product, Super DSL, are R129 per month for a 384Kb/s line (down R23 from before), R211 for a 1Mb/s line (down R88), and R322 for a 10Mb/s line, (down R91).
