Riverbed boosts acceleration gear efficiency

Riverbed, a provider of wide area data services appliances, is upgrading software for its WAN acceleration products to improve performance and enable businesses to get by with fewer of its software clients, reports NetworkWorld.

The operating system upgrade, RIOS 5.5, includes upgrades to Riverbed Services Platform (RSP) that can make the company's Steelhead appliances run more efficiently. RSP is the name Riverbed gives to the ability of its appliances to act as branch application servers.

The efficiency comes from exempting certain traffic from being accelerated, thereby making transactions simpler and using up less processing power. In addition, RSP can now handle five separate applications on VMware virtual machines. T

ePlus achieves Cisco specialisation

ePlus Technology has achieved the Advanced Data Centre Networking Infrastructure (DCNI) specialisation from Cisco, says Market Watch.

This specialisation recognises ePlus for having fulfilled the training requirements and programme prerequisites to sell, deliver and support comprehensive Cisco data centre solutions.

"We are pleased to earn the new Cisco Advanced DCNI specialisation, which reflects the advanced skills required to design and deploy Data Centre 3.0 technologies," said Jerry McIntosh, VP of communications and security solutions for ePlus Technology.

Edimax ramps up India operations

With a focus on marketing and distributing advanced networking products, Edimax Technology, a provider of networking products, has ramped up its India operations, states Channel Times.

The company has appointed Ravians Kumar as director of sales, India. Moreover, there will be four business development managers onboard to represent four regions: Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Kolkata.

At present, Edimax is targeting SMEs and the SOHO space with its range of high-end wireless networking products.
