There is a new dimension at Kaspersky Lab. The company is growing and changing. Part of this is the company`s strategy to diversify its product portfolio, away from its core business of anti-virus products, and expand to other Internet security aspects, said Eugene Buyakin, COO of Kaspersky Lab, at an international press tour, in Moscow.
Founded in 1997, Kaspersky Lab is a private, self-funded company, owned by 10 individuals. It is headquartered in Moscow and has a local presence in 19 countries across the globe.
The company is the recognised leader in the anti-malware industry, he notes, and has over 250 million users worldwide. "Every day, 50 000 new customers buy Kaspersky Lab products."
Buyakin says, globally, the IT security market was worth $21.5 billion in 2007 and is estimated to be worth $33.8 billion by 2011, growing between 10% and 12% year-on-year. "Kaspersky, on the other hand, is experiencing 100% year-on-year growth.
"Our aim is to gain the leading position in secure content and threat management, and provide unmatched security levels to our customers," he says. "Malware is growing in amount and complexity. Competition in the industry these days is driven by innovations in protection solutions, and we believe Kaspersky Lab is best positioned to lead this trend."
Kaspersky Lab`s strategy is to be the first in the industry to develop and implement new protection methods and technologies. "We will also focus on our channel partners, to compete on financial terms and be the vendor of choice."
Another key element to the company`s strategy moving forward is the opening of several new offices, seven in 2008 and another six planned for 2009, to gain business flexibility and a global reach by localisation, he adds.
Buyakin says the company is also shifting towards corporate business, and this is where it will place much emphasis in the next three to five years, having focused since its inception on its technology and consumer business.
"Our success is reshaping the industry landscape," he concludes. "Our plans show scaling-up and scaling-out will continue to drive Kaspersky Lab`s future success in a changing market."
