Reflection X now with Linux support

Simplified integration of Windows desktops with UNIX, Digital, and Linux systems

WRQ recently unveiled an upgrade to its Microsoft Windows/UNIX integration package, Reflection X version 7.2, the first Reflection product to include support for the Linux server platform. The upgrade also includes enhanced management, deployment tools and standards support.

Reflection X provides IT managers with a powerful yet simplified connection between PCs and UNIX, Digital and Linux server platforms, enabling Windows users to access both local desktop applications such as word processing and spreadsheets, as well as graphical applications running on UNIX, Digital and Linux platforms. "Organisations continue to realise the advantage of integrating their powerful UNIX Systems with the availability and familiarity of Windows desktops, while also capitalising on the economy of Linux." says Neill Rosenthal, WRQ business manager at LAN Design.

Reflection X 7.2 includes Reflection Hands-Free administration technology, which enables IT to deploy and configure Reflection X completely from a centralised Web server, significantly reducing administrative costs and management complexity.

What`s New?

  • Linux server platform support: Connection templates and a connection script for easily establishing common Linux sessions.

  • Support for latest X protocol enhancements: X11R6.4 protocol specifications allow X client applications to discover more information about the X server`s graphics capabilities and use of color maps.

  • Improved PseudoColor emulation: Reflection X can now run a wider range of applications in this mode, displaying colors and rendering shapes more accurately than any PC X server on the market.

  • Enhanced support of multiple transport: Networked communications are now faster and more efficient. TCP/IP, DECNet and UNIX Domain sockets all are supported using the WinSock2 interface.
