Leading systems integrator Red Man Technologies has successfully implemented a state-of-the art business intelligence (BI) solution for South Africa's top security services provider, the Mvelephanda-owned Protea Coin Group.
The solution was installed in December and went live in early January.
Protea Coin's IT manager Pieter Smith says the choice of QlikView Web-based data analysis software will enable financial managers to rapidly consolidate financial data from the disparate companies within the group and analyse it in real-time according to flexible criteria.
“We operate in the highly competitive security industry which is sensitive to cost so it's critical for management to get a current view of the operational profitability of each of our divisions. QlikView enables us to get relevant information in minutes rather than hours and will aid faster and better decision-making.”
Smith says Protea Coin pressured Red Man to “get it up and running as fast as possible. The installation was in and running in about three days and they were really helpful in sharing their knowledge of the software with our IT people”.
Red Man's Jarno Loubser says QlikView was proposed as the ideal BI tool to support Protea Coin's diverse operations. “It is able to extract information from disparate sources into a single data model and its in-memory data analysis tool delivers instant results to queries.”
QlikView's technology is based on in-memory associative query logic that eliminates the need for the pre-aggregation, which is common to other online analytical processing technologies and limits the ways in which users can query data. QlikView is designed to take advantage of the exponentially improved capacities of hardware and computer processors.
QlikView, cited by IDC as the fastest growing BI software vendor worldwide, is installed at more than 10 000 customers in 90 countries. It is developed by QlikTech, a Swedish firm that is now headquartered in the US.
