Rapid Technologies announced today that one of South Africa's leading law firms, Webber Wentzel Bowens (WWB), has selected Rapid Technologies to deploy Riverbed's Steelhead wide-area data services appliances throughout its network to accelerate the performance of applications across its networks.
Using Riverbed's Steelhead appliances will optimise the performance of applications between remote sites and make far better use of bandwidth.
With offices in Johannesburg and Cape Town, and representation throughout Europe via its affiliation with Maitland, the WWB footprint is vast, enabling direct access to personal, superior legal services for all clients.
"We use best of breed applications used by other leading law firms worldwide, demanding SQL-based applications. With the introduction of Riverbed technology we experienced a drastic improvement in performance and literally saved tens of thousands of rands by not upgrading our physical telecommunication infrastructure. Applications that had an immediate improvement are document management, practice management, workflow, mail and Web browsing. In our South African market, having WAN acceleration in place is a definitive advantage," explains Eugene van Vuren, IT Manager, WWB.
"Riverbed technology is helping companies manage growth, control costs and ensure people are working productively," noted Gary Coetzee, Managing Director of Rapid Technologies. "In South Africa the cost of sending data is exceptionally high; this is one of the key driving factors to prompt organisations to invest in Riverbed technology."
