Queuing systems installed in hospitals

The Rwandan Ministry of Health has installed customer directing system software or queue management systems in the university teaching hospitals of Kigali, Muhima and Rwamagana hospitals, reports AllAfrica.com.

The move is aimed at improving customer care in the health sector, according to officials. According to Daniel Murenzi, the head of ICT in the ministry, the product, dubbed 'Onlinet QMS', is said to increase efficiency, quality and service levels.

It is an IT system that aims to improve service provision at hospitals and healthcare facilities by organizing client flow and providing attention to all visitors," Murenzi says.

New iCT 256 scanner at Mafraq

Mafraq Hospital in the UAE has unveiled a scanner called the Philips Brilliance iCT 256-slice scanner, according to Zawya.com.

The iCT 256-slice scanner, which Mafraq Hospital installed in July, can scan the body in less than a minute. It scans the body as well as rotating around it sending out 256 pulses every one-third of a second. The scan is said to be much quicker than current technology, as the machine's X-ray emitting air glide gantry - the giant ring-shaped part that surrounds the patient - can rotate four times in a single second, 22% faster than current systems, according to Philips.

John Nickens, CEO at Mafraq Hospital says: “The use of this technology gives our patients an advantage with a quick prognosis allowing for fast treatment. I am delighted that we are the first hospital in the Gulf region to have this machine”.
