ProScan Group announced recently that it has acquired BCA Bar Code Alliance, one of South Africa's premier label and print solutions provider for over 20 years.
The ProScan Group is a leading specialist in supply chain, automated data collection and mobile computing technologies and solutions in southern Africa.
Andrew Fosbrook, Group Managing Director of ProScan, commented: "The acquisition of BCA provides us with manufacturing facilities in the Western Cape to service the burgeoning business in coastal regions, and complement the production facilities of its sister company, ProScan Media Products in Gauteng."
BCA has well established distribution alliances with global brands in thermal transfer printer technology, consumables and accessories. BCA's portfolio offers a complete product selection, including bar code and RFID printers and supplies, ARMOR ribbons, Variable Information Print (VIP) labels and a range of accessories.
Fosbrook adds: "BCA's comprehensive and well-established product line is complemented by outstanding service and training and long-standing customer relationships. With ProScan's investment capabilities behind BCA, we intend to strengthen the company and its product offerings to deliver enhanced services to its customer base.
"The management of BCA will continue under the leadership of the General Manager, Karin Parker, based at BCA's manufacturing plant in Maitland, Cape Town. The other regional offices of BCA will merge with ProScan's to ensure there is continued representation in Johannesburg, Durban and Port Elizabeth to offer current customers national support, as well as expand the user base."
