PricewaterhouseCoopers deploys Avaya converged communications solutions in its new Beijing office

Avaya has announced that PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), has deployed Avaya voice and data converged communications systems in its new office building in Beijing, which will provide quality in communications, management efficiency, as well as facilitate high-quality services to PwC clients.

PwC recently moved offices in Beijing to the Beijing Fortune Plaza, occupying seven floors in a 20 000 square metre area, making it the largest of all PwC offices in Asia Pacific. Avaya deployed a converged communications system that delivers advanced features such as mobility, multimedia e-mail, conferencing, etc, which will enhance the overall operational efficiency and productivity.

With Avaya solutions, employees at PwC can conveniently make any available IP telephone in the office his or her extension, and the phone will immediately show all the personalised information of this staff, so that he or she is able to work in a mobile way within the whole office. When working out of the office, staff can still get access to all the applications through IP Softphone, so that they can communicate with colleagues and customers as if they were sitting in the office. The multimedia e-mail system can convert voice mails into e-mail messages, which can then be downloaded from the e-mail server for processing. These features are very meaningful for PwC staffs, who are quite often away from their desks for business travels and meetings.

PwC also deployed an IVR system of Avaya, which allows a staff to easily apply certain phone costs he or she incurs into a project, making project management more efficient.

Ken Crombie, IT Director for PricewaterhouseCoopers China/Hong Kong, and IT leader for PricewaterhouseCoopers Asia, said: "PricewaterhouseCoopers` China business is growing rapidly, and we are also faced with fast-evolving customer requirement. We hope the new office in Beijing will serve as a highly efficient supporting platform, and the communications system is an integral part of it. Avaya has rich experiences in telephony, and can provide us with leading technologies and vision, as well as applications tuned to our industry. The new communications system will enable us to provide top level services to our clients."

The Avaya system comprises S8700 media server which runs Avaya Communications Manager, G650 media gateway, more than 1 000 IP phones, as well as IP softphones. Designed on open standards and with outstanding scalability, it can well support the future expansion of PwC in China. PwC has set up six offices in China apart from the HK and Macau ones, and plans to add another three in the next five years. PwC already made the plan to deploy converged communications systems in its Hong Kong and Shanghai offices, with around 3 000 and 1 200 users respectively.

"We are excited to partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers, a renowned professional services organisation both in the world and China, on this project. This is another proof of our leadership in the enterprise communications field," said Liu Junling, General Manager of Avaya China.

"Avaya helps enterprises to gain efficiency and a competing-edge from their communications systems. We believe IP telephony technologies will continue to drive the convergence of communications applications with business applications, and create big values for enterprises and their customers as well."
