IS Partners has implemented its packaged software application Dimension Manager at Premier Foods, a manufacturer and distributor of a number of South African's staple food brands.
The solution will address Premier Foods' requirement for improved management of its master data records.
Dimension Manager is a smart client application developed for the management and creation of customer and product dimensions, hierarchies, source-system entities and attributes. It also works alongside the Microsoft Business Intelligence platform and forms an integral part of any data warehouse implementation.
"Premier Foods identified a need for a Dimension Management system that could replace its current Data Administration application to assist with control of product and customer master records, often duplicated from multiple sources and residing in multiple systems," explains Ryan Jamieson, director at IS Partners. Reporting capabilities will also be added to these records for audit trail and hierarchy view reports.
Dimension Manager will ensure ownership and control of master data by providing a central information repository, explains Jamieson. The responsibility for individual master records will be given to Premier Foods' various branches with built-in security controlled access.
"The solution will ensure that only specified users can create, view or modify hierarchies and attributes at the dimension level. Real-time updates to hierarchies are also provided through Dimension Manager, while source data details such as data creation time, for example, can also be easily identified."
He adds that the solution ensures that master records are migrated to Dimension Manager, and then integrate back to source systems, thus not allowing any editing in the disparate systems but only through Dimension Manager itself.
"Dimension Manager offered us ease of use in terms of mapping and managing information according to our requirements. It further ensured greater ownership and control over our master records cost-effectively," says Alan Brickett, Business Data Architect at Premier Foods.
