Powell Tronics' ability to recognise that all software needs to continuously evolve to accommodate the increasing demands on features, due to user requirements and new technology, has enabled the company to proactively incorporate features that would improve its management tool, PT-AD.

In the latest version of PT-AD, Powell Tronics' integration service that maintains tag-holder information and active status in the ImproNet access control system by correlating the user information and status in the Active Directory (AD) system, and features such as Custom Employee Field Mapping, Operator Security control and alarm notification, have significantly improved the flexibility and efficiency of this established application.

Custom Employee Field Mappings allow the end-user to populate the ImproNet tag-holder information with additional Active Directory user information that would originally have been limited to specific ImproNet fields. As each client requires different data to be synchronised, Powell Tronics now allows the end-user the ability to link any Active Directory attribute to a number of ImproNet Employee fields.

This feature not only offers the client substantial flexibility in deciding what data is relevant to them, but also opens the door to additional integration, such asset management or cashless vending, where employees credit data can be controlled by AD security groups and attributes.

The e-mail alarm notification minimises offline time by immediately notifying all relevant parties of any loss in communication between PT-AD and the AD Domain Controllers or the ImproNet Access Control system. By receiving an e-mail notification, IT management can immediately investigate and resolve the issue before it impacts the access control system.

The advanced module, Operator Security Control, enhances the efficiency of PT-AD dramatically by allowing Active Directory to control who has access to ImproNet (known as Operators) as well as allow for the ability to log onto to the system using their domain credentials rather than having to create standard user names and passwords, which need to be maintained separately by the Access Control administrator. Once Operator Groups and their respective rights have been configured within ImproNet - a once-off configuration - using AD's Organisational Units and Security Groups membership, users will be allocated access to the various applications within the ImproNet suite automatically, and will log on using their Windows domain credentials.

As the market changes and new requirements arise, Powell Tronics is pleased with its ability to adapt and meet the challenge to supply the market with an efficient management tool.
