Software AG (Frankfurt TecDAX: SOW) today announced the selection of Cumulocity IoT by POST Luxembourg to fulfil its plans to offer a comprehensive range of smart IOT services in Luxembourg.
Software AG's Cumulocity IoT is an open and independent platform, which operates across cloud, on-premises and at the edge, provides enterprises and service providers with total freedom and choice in designing, building, deploying and evolving their IOT distributed deployments operating seamlessly across any network.
It took POST Luxembourg less than six weeks to build a fully customised and secure IOT offering using Software AG's Cumulocity IoT. The Cumulocity-based solution enables the mail and telecommunications company to connect and register millions of devices quickly and securely. POST Luxembourg's Smart City IOT offering can connect all parts of a city or enterprise property, providing the ability to monitor what and where anything is happening, which makes it more secure and potentially more energy efficient.
Laurent Rapin, IOT Solution Advisor, Enterprise Sales Department, POST Luxembourg, said: "Our Smart City service can give our customers deep insights into what's happening across their properties or across the city. With Cumulocity IoT, our customers will be able to better manage their resources, parking, water, environment; efficiently control energy usage and manage traffic; and take advantage of numerous other applications. This ensures that our business and public service customers are better equipped to control or solve any potential threat or opportunity, as it arises."
On the automotive side, POST Luxembourg has an M2M managed connectivity offering that connects more than 1.3 million cars across Europe. POST Luxembourg developed a broad range of IOT telematics services that provide accurate control and monitoring of cars and trucks. By connecting vehicles to Cumulocity IoT Platform, POST Luxembourg's customers can better manage their business with a variety of apps, including fleet management, crash detection, insurance telematics and eco-driving.
Software AG's Cumulocity IoT includes a broad range of prepackaged solutions such as Condition Monitoring, Predictive Maintenance and Track & Trace, as well as quick and easy device and sensor management, thus bringing the worlds of IT and operational technology (OT) together. Extending these capabilities, Cumulocity IoT can take full advantage of Software AG's Digital Business Platform for industry-leading integration, business process management, advanced analytics and machine learning capabilities.
Bernd Gross, senior vice-president, IOT and cloud, Software AG, said: "Cumulocity IoT is unique in that it provides service providers and enterprises with the ability to very quickly start with a limited scale, cloud-based IOT project and, as their sophistication grows, be confident to build IOT platforms and IOT services that will grow effortlessly with them. Service providers and enterprises can develop and implement IOT services at the optimal balance between risk and ambition, at their pace, and at their choice."
This freedom of choice enables faster IOT innovation and adoption at a customer-driven pace from streamlining and efficiency of enterprise production processes, through total customer interaction and increased retention, by developing digital business models and the smart products and services demanded by today's digital markets.
Software AG's Cumulocity IoT had its own dedicated stand at the Internet of Things Convention, Smart Cities 2018, in Antwerp, yesterday (6 June), where attendees discovered current and future IOT initiatives and saw demonstrations of connected store and real-time supply chain inventory management, predictive analytics at the edge, smart manufacturing, and a demonstration that shows how an IOT solution can be built in 10 minutes with Amazon Alexa.
