POS solution benefits retirees

Canadian point-of-sale (POS) software developer Volante Systems has expanded its business into the retirement community POS market, with Volante 'Multi-Meal' software, says Linux PR.

Understanding the importance of knowing each resident's special needs, interests and dining requirements, Volante has designed a POS and administration back office POS system tailored specifically to retirement communities and assisted living facilities.

Volante has already penetrated the nursing home industry via a recent partnership with NCR at Toronto's Baycrest, a premier academic health sciences centre focused on aging.

PCI update gets mixed reviews

The POS standard released by the PCI Security Standard Council receives mixed reactions from industry security experts, says Bank Info Security.

The revised standard is meant to enhance and prevent payment card fraud on devices that accept payment transactions, and will cover everything from retail point of sale card readers to unattended payment terminals at gas stations and parking lots.

"We'll have to give this some time and see," says Dave Shackleford, a security expert at Sword & Shield, a computer and network security firm in Atlanta.

Paytronix integrates with SpeedLine

Paytronix Systems has introduced technology integration with POS software provider SpeedLine Solutions, that provides solutions for pizza and delivery restaurants, writes Business Wire.

The combined technology from SpeedLine and Paytronix captures specific customer activities seamlessly at the point of sale.

Using this data, restaurant companies can easily identify their best customers, track purchase and visit behaviour, and design personalised promotions.
