Polaroid debuts printer/camera combo

Polaroid used the occasion of the International CES Press Preview on Tuesday to formally introduce its latest instant digital camera and printer combination, designed to deliver the instant gratification of the brand's old Land cameras with the quality of today's imaging technology, Twice reports.

The Z340 is a 14MP digital camera with an integrated Z-ink-based printer. Z-ink is a printing technology used by Polaroid that does not require traditional inkjet cartridges or printing paper. Instead, the ink is embedded into the paper as clear dye crystals that are activated by heat to create a nearly instant photo print.

According to PCWorld, the Z340 has a fold-down 2.7-inch display and an SD card slot, and it can print up to 25 images and capture up to 75 images on a single charge of its lithium-ion battery.

The Z340's screen allows users to view photos instantly, as well as make small edits. Photos can be downloaded to a computer from its SD card, or printed instantly using the device's built-in printer. The sizes of the prints, 3x4 inches, are the same exact size as the first Polaroid camera, Technology Digital notes.
