Chinese smartphone manufacturer Poco, a Xiaomi sub-brand, has introduced two new flagship phones in SA: the X4 Pro 5G and M4 Pro.
Formerly known as ‘Poco by Xiaomi’, Poco is an independent brand born out of the Xiaomi Corporation.
The smartphone manufacturer made its debut in SA last year, with the launch of the Poco M3 phone. Poco operates in more than 85 global markets, with its total device shipments reaching over 23 million in 2021 alone, according to the company.
The Poco X4 Pro 5G is the brand's latest smartphone, targeted at young tech enthusiasts who demand a device that can handle heavy everyday use, at an affordable price. The 6.67-inch handset comes in black or blue.
It features a 120Hz AMOLED display, 108MP camera, Snapdragon 5G processor and 67W turbo charging, and gaming and budding professional photography tools.
The Poco M4 Pro is targeted at users seeking an entertainment experience on the go. The phone has a 90Hz AMOLED display combined with dual speakers, a 64MP high-resolution main camera, powered by a high-performance MediaTek Helio G96 and 33W Pro fast charging.
M4 Pro weighs 179.5g and is 8.09mm thick, making it the lightest Poco smartphone to date.It also comes in black or blue.

YouTube's subscription service, YouTube Premium, will come pre-installed on both phones, and customers can use it for up to two months free of charge.
The X4 Pro’s recommended retail price is R6 999, while the M4 Pro costs R4 499 – both available via official e-commerce channels Takealot and Everyshop.
While Poco has an independent product, sales and marketing team, the company shares its resources with Xiaomi in manufacturing and after-sales.
