PDC expands into Africa with Printronix print solutions

Johannesburg, 30 Jul 2007

The Printer Distribution Company (PDC), a focused distribution company specialising in the provision of quality printers, has signed a contract with Printronix to supply its entire range of printers into southern Africa. This will provide countries such as Lesotho, Swaziland, Mozambique, Zambia, Namibia, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Angola and the Congo with low total cost of ownership (TCO) printers for environments that require laser, serial and line matrix printers.

Says Rodney Bartman, CEO at PDC: "Expanding into southern Africa will allow PDC to tap into a new, previously underserved market. Companies in the financial, mining, automotive and government sectors require line matrix print technology and PDC is poised to meet their needs. Our Printronix offering will provide these countries with access to a reliable, industrial strength printer brand."

Adds Bartman: "We are taking our successful model in the South African market and applying this to southern Africa. In addition to supplying product into this region, PDC is looking to set up a channel with value added distributors and resellers or partners that will offer on-site support and maintenance. If the distributor has a significant footprint in the respective country, we will consider sole distribution rights to these organisations."

PDC is making a significant investment with this move to distribute its products into southern Africa. The company is gearing its stock to meet the supply/demand of the extended market and setting up a channel infrastructure. "Service and support is one of the tenets on which our business is built and we plan to extend this ethos to the African continent," says Bartman.

PDC will also be offering its existing range of branded printers to the southern African market, providing a choice of solutions for multiple environments.
