Oz govt unveils e-health projects

Australian federal health minister Nicola Roxon has revealed the next wave of projects to pave the way for a national implementation of personally controlled e-health records, says ZDet.

There had been 90 applications received to be part of the next nine lead implementations, added Roxon.

According to the CIO, Roxon, said the e-health implementation sites, to join the initial three sites in Brisbane, the Hunter Valley and Melbourne East, was the next step in the government's health reform project.

“In these nine projects, we can see practical examples of how e-health can improve heath care for patients,” Roxon said in a statement.

Roxon said the nine sites were chosen as they would bring early benefits to mothers with newborn babies, people living with chronic diseases, and patients in aged and palliative care facilities, notes Australian IT.
