Orion trebles local presence

Orion Telecom, a telecommunications service provider focusing on least-cost routing, has established eight regional branches in the past two months.

"We will be able to address faults much faster - our response times will be greatly improved," says sales and marketing director Jacques du Toit.

The new offices are in Bloemfontein, Kimberly, Upington, Mmabatho, Polokwane, Nelspruit, Pretoria and East London. Orion`s presence was previously limited to Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and Port Elizabeth, Du Toit confirms.

Enormous opportunities

"With the enormous growth in business opportunities particularly in the Mpumalanga, Northwest and Northern provinces, it has become essential for us to open fully-fledged offices," explains Du Toit.

With the continued deregulation of the telecoms sector, new opportunities will open up, he believes. "New players should come to the market, and I hope Orion will be the first stop for them."

Du Toit responded to speculation that the telco might list on the JSE, following an announcement from the company that its annual turnover has increased to R750 million. "If the opportunity is there, and if everything is right, we may consider listing."
