OpenText signs global launch partner agreement with Microsoft for SQL Server Denali

OpenText Corporation, the pre-eminent provider of enterprise content management (ECM) software, today announced that it has been named a Microsoft Global Launch Partner for SQL Server Code Name 'Denali' a cloud-ready information platform now available for community review.

OpenText also announced that it has been selected as a finalist for the 2011 Microsoft ISV/Software Line of Business Partner of the Year Award and continues to deliver market-leading solutions in support of key Microsoft cloud initiatives, including fax server integration for Office 365 and an Azure-based business process management solution.

The announcements were made at the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference 2011 (WPC11), the annual gathering for the Microsoft partner community to learn about the roadmap for the upcoming year.

"Our customers are continually pushing for new and more powerful ways of dealing with the explosion of data and content across their organisations," commented Lubor Ptacek, Vice-President of Strategic Marketing and General Manager of the Microsoft Solutions Group at Open Text.

"As a Microsoft Global Launch Partner for Denali we are well-positioned to help our enterprise content management (ECM) customers take advantage of new capabilities in SQL Server around performance, scalability, security and information access. We see Denali as supporting our mission to help enterprises claim, control and capitalise on content."

As part of the agreement as a Global Launch Partner for Denali, OpenText will provide support for SQL Server Denali for core ECM products shortly after the final release of Denali.

Microsoft 2011 Partner Awards

Awards are presented in multiple categories, with winners chosen from a set of more than 3 000 entrants worldwide. The ISV/Software Line of Business Partner of the Year honours an ISV partner that has demonstrated leadership excellence in developing and delivering Microsoft platform-based line of business (ERP, CRM, ECM, BI, industry) applications to mutual customers over the past year. This award recognises OpenText, one of the most valuable line-of-business partners to the Microsoft worldwide field.

"We are proud to recognise this outstanding group from our highly valued worldwide partner network as our 2011 Partner Award finalists," added Jon Roskill, corporate vice-president, Worldwide Partner Group, Microsoft Corp. "We applaud the unique perspective and creativity each of these companies brings to solving customer business and technology challenges. Our strong partnership, along with their commitment to customers, plays an essential role in our mutual, long-term success."

OpenText support for the Microsoft cloud

OpenText is a strong supporter of the Microsoft cloud-based computing offering, including Azure and Office 365. In June, OpenText released RightFax 10, with enhanced security for sending and receiving faxes from cloud-based office systems, including Microsoft Office 365.

As companies of all sizes look to cloud-based office application suites such as Microsoft Office 365, the ability to securely send and receive faxes through these services is critical. Also, earlier this year, OpenText Metastorm announced that Metastorm M3 - its cloud-based modelling suite - is Powered by Microsoft Windows Azure, recognising that the Metastorm M3 cloud application has met a specific set of functionality and performance requirements set forth by Microsoft.

Powered by Windows Azure, Metastorm M3 offers the most popular modelling types from Metastorm's enterprise architecture and business process management software and delivers them in a secure, easy to use cloud-based environment, enabling real-time collaboration, annotation and recording capabilities. These new areas of cloud support from OpenText add to the previously available support for cloud storage based on Azure and other cloud initiatives.

OpenText and Microsoft

OpenText and Microsoft enjoy a rich, collaborative relationship. OpenText's solutions for Microsoft are offered as part of OpenText ECM Suite 2010.

This integrated suite brings together the content management capabilities needed to manage all types of enterprise content, including business documents, vital records, Web content, digital media such as images, audio and video, e-mail, forms, reports and more.

Using OpenText Everywhere, customers can access and work with enterprise content securely from smartphones.
