Obsidian Systems strengthens relationship with Red Hat

Earns status as Red Hat Partner for Consulting and Training Services.

Johannesburg, 08 Feb 2011

Obsidian Systems, a leading provider of enterprise open source in southern Africa, and one of Red Hat's first partners in the region, has earned status as a Red Hat Partner for Consulting and Training Services in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Under the terms of this partnership, Obsidian will support Red Hat in selected consulting services engagements.

“The agreement between Red Hat and Obsidian will offer a host of benefits to Red Hat customers throughout the region,” said Louis Seyffert, country manager at Red Hat in South Africa. “Our customers will be able to source skills for large-scale projects directly from Red Hat, and we are excited to work with Obsidian to provide reliable, secure and cost-effective solutions for our customers.”

Obsidian Systems has a track record of more than a decade in the open source marketplace, and was one of the first companies to offer professional services for Red Hat products in South Africa. Obsidian previously earned status as a Red Hat Certified Training Partner and was accredited as the first South African Red Hat Premier Business Partner in 2008, the highest level of accreditation for a Red Hat partner.

“We see these new partnership agreements as a major endorsement of the quality of our skills and are excited by the prospect of working closely with Red Hat in South Africa,” said Muggie van Staden, managing director at Obsidian Systems.
