NSW streamlines IT platforms

The New South Wales government is set to slash the number of business software platforms it uses, following a dramatic shift in its procurement of finance, payroll and HR systems, reports Australian IT News.

NSW minister for commerce Eric Roozendaal said the government had culled the number of enterprise resource planning vendors it will buy software from to three, as part of its People First ICT strategy.

Mincom, Oracle and SAP survived the cut, but all other finance, payroll and HR platforms will be decommissioned over the coming years in a move that is meant to assist plans to shave $565 million off the state's computer and communications bill.

HR supplier celebrates growth

HR and payroll software supplier, ASR, celebrated its 20th anniversary with a year of substantial growth and record sales, according to eMediawire.

ASR sales director, Paul Dowthwaite, has stated he is delighted with the latest figures for 2006-2007, the company's 20th year in business:

"We have seen considerable growth across all areas of the business; exceeding all targets forecast at the beginning of the year. We managed to grow turnover by 40% this year and sales by 50%.
