Nokia demonstrates faster 4G
Telecommunications equipment major Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) demonstrated for the first time its Time Division Duplex version of LTE Technology in India, writes The Hindu.
The technology, running on broadband wireless access (BWA) spectrum, for which licences were issued recently, will herald the fourth generation (4G) of technology in the wireless communications space, top officials of the company say.
The inaugural video call at the demonstration, which was conducted at NSN's R&D facility, was initiated by Gurdeep Singh, chief operating officer, Aircel. The demonstration was conducted on the 2.3GHz spectrum band, which has been reserved for BWA services
Computer-based tech to improve surgeries
Personalised orthopaedic operations will be made possible through new computer-based technologies and surgical techniques, states Med India.
Currently knee replacement often results in a pain-free joint; however, the prosthetic joint usually does not function as well as a normal, non-arthritic knee.
"Innovative computer-based technologies will further improve surgeries that have been optimised using manual tools," said Dr. Andrew D. Pearle, associate attending orthopaedic surgeon at Hospital for Special Surgery.
