I-Net Bridge has upgraded its business portal model with a content solutions offering, which provides customised content delivered directly to corporate intranets. The company says the offering gives users selected Internet content only, saving costs and improving business efficiency.
Content solutions provide an integrated, online package of news, financial data, research material and company news through a single delivery channel to company intranets. The package is seen as a possible solution to the ongoing debate about whether to allow all employees Internet access.
So far, the full content solutions package is being used by a number of major corporates for their intranets, Web sites and investor relations needs.
Chris Lazarus, I-Net Bridge`s business manager of content solutions, says the key difference between the content solutions offering and the business portal model is that companies can decide what information they want as opposed to a `one fits all` type of product.
"A needs analysis is first done to determine what specific information is required by the company depending on what industry they are in. General information that affects business, such as the state of the rand or information on HIV in the workplace, is also included in the package," Lazarus says.
"Content solutions therefore only deliver relevant information and eliminate the need for an individual to look at various information sources.
"By moving into this environment we are not only empowering individuals within organisations by giving them access to content and information, but we are also providing a tool for them to access the content, without needing to access the Internet," Lazarus says.
Employees therefore have access to information related to their industry and general news that affects all business without having to access multiple sources via the Internet.
"The Internet brings increased costs, productivity and security issues. Content solutions empower employees by using an existing business tool - the corporate intranet. This not only constructs a more controlled business environment, but also decreases the flow of information through the system, which in turn improves bandwidth capabilities."
The news in the package is provided within the Johnnic group while the financial data and the company information is supplied by I-Net Bridge. The research information is supplied by the 61 research groups that partner with I-Net Bridge.
The subscription-based pricing model is linked to the component choice and number of users.
