newScale selected by South African Airways for ITIL Service Catalogue initiative

IT transformation initiative led by Pink Elephant and Puleng Technologies.

newScale, the market leader in IT service catalogue and service portfolio management software solutions, today announced that South African Airways, Africa's largest domestic and international airline, will deploy newScale PortfolioCenter, newScale RequestCenter, and newScale Service Request Libraries for its ITIL Service Catalogue initiative.

“South African Airways is in the midst of a fundamental restructuring that extends across all business and IT operations. We must transform our IT services organisation from its current method of operating as a cost centre to that of self-sustaining service organisation following best practices,” said Mike Re, CIO of South African Airways (SAA). “This transformation will reduce IT costs, increase employee productivity, improve efficiency, and enable IT to operate as a more accountable service provider to SAA's business areas. The IT transformation programme leverages ITIL best practices, with a focus on areas of financial and business relationship management. Pink Elephant, a leading global supplier of ITIL education and consulting services, was chosen to lead this strategic initiative. High priority areas include the Service Catalogue, a service-based pricing model, and a blueprint to move from cost centre to charging SAA's business areas for IT services in the future.

South African Airways selected the newScale Service Catalogue software for its ease-of-use to drive self-service adoption as well as it proven ability to integrate seamlessly with its existing SAP enterprise systems and outsourced IT infrastructure. The ability to rapidly configure and deploy best practices - leveraging pre-built templates and an easy-to-use service design module provided by newScale - was also a key consideration in the evaluation. newScale's new technology services partner in Africa, Puleng Technologies, was chosen for technology enablement. With local skills and expertise in the African market, Puleng offers the newScale technology to its customers as the Service Catalogue solution of choice.
