GN Netcom unveiled its latest corded headphones for the business and call centre markets together with local partner, Kathea, in Johannesburg yesterday.

The Jabra Biz 2400 corded headphones took two and a half years to develop, according to Holger Reisinger, GN Netcom sales director for emerging markets and Austria. He adds that the headphones feature over 20 advances in technology to make it a high-quality and user-friendly product that is “10 times better than other corded headphones”.

“The Biz 2400 features an industry-first, noise-cancelling boom arm microphone with FreeSpin 360-degree rotation, which makes it nearly impossible to break when dropped,” says Reisinger.

“The audio quality of the headphones has been drastically improved by incorporating Neodymium speakers, which feature thinner and stronger magnets for better quality sound regardless of frequency,” he adds.

Reisinger explains that the microphone contains gold-plated contacts for clearer voice transmissions which don't corrode like other metals, ensuring they last longer. “The headphones also feature our improved PureVoice noise-cancelling technology, cutting out most background noise.”

In terms of physical design, the Biz 2400 has certain key parts made of surgical steel for increased strength and wear and tear. “The cord is made of ultra-strong Kevlar and through our testing is shown not to kink or break, making it perfect for the call centre agent environment,” says Reisinger.

Comfort is another important element for call centre agents and business users, according to Reisinger, so the ear cushions have been made from a softer material called satin leather. “We also improved the balance of the T-bar and gave it holes for better ventilation,“ he says.

“The headphones also feature programmable soft-buttons for people to set predefined settings according to their needs. It also has built-in Bluetooth so users can easily answer their mobile phones without having to take off the headset.”

According to Scott Gilbert, Jabra sales representative at Kathea, the Jabra Biz 2400 series headphones are compatible with almost all telephony systems, including conventional narrowband desk telephony, wideband IP telephony as well as full hi-fi quality telephony.

“A wireless solution is to be ready for market in September,” Reisinger adds.

Depending on a company's telephony system configuration as well as Biz 2400 product level, the prices per unit range from R2 249 for the entry-level Biz 2400 units up to R2 599 for the high-end models, notes Gilbert.
