In 2008, Netsurit CEO, Orrin Klopper, planted the first seeds for a Dream Programme: a platform that would enable employees to clarify, nurture and realise their dreams. The plan was to provide Netsurit people with the tools and time to make their biggest dreams come true. What's evolving is a culture that supports the dreams of the people that are at the heart of the business, Netsurit's staff.
“People don't just come to work for a salary, they want purpose and meaning and a chance to actualise their potential,” explains Orrin.
After years of conceptualising, brainstorming and developing, Netsurit's Dream Programme is now in full swing. In January 2011, the company employed a permanent dream manager, tasked with deepening the integrity, introducing creative engagement methods and building sustainable momentum into the programme. The programme is peer-to-peer enabled, and employees are trained to coach their peers throughout their dream journey in facilitated dream sessions. Staff are also able to take up the opportunity of individual one-on-one dream coaching sessions with their dream manager, and dream development “playshops” will be introduced this year.
So far, the programme has seen Netsurit employees realise many diverse dreams, including bungee jumping, becoming homeowners, getting into shape and making short films, to name a few. One employee's health-related dream reaped rewards for the entire team: Netsurit now has a company gym and is providing its staff with healthier food options.
Confidentiality is one of the tenets of the programme, but many employees have chosen to share their experiences and successes in a variety of ways, including on social media platforms like You Tube.
“We support our clients by providing them with the technology strategy and solutions they need to drive their business objectives, and we support our people through the Dream Programme,” says Orrin. “Supporting the dreams of the doers - that's what drives us.”
Three years ago, the programme was Orrin's dream. Today, it's a very real part of Netsurit's culture.
