Navision reaffirms its commitment to SA

Johannesburg, 26 Jun 2002

While the IT industry continues to experience difficult times, with several well-known IT companies reporting reduced earnings, Navision South Africa continues to show strong growth. It is significant that Navision has relocated to new office premises in Midrand, reaffirming its commitment to base its African continent operations in SA.

Navision relocated in the beginning of June and recently invited its resellers, partners and customers to an event marking the official opening of the new offices.

"At Navision South Africa, we continue to see good demand for our products and are tracking at the expected revenue levels," says Navision SA managing director Keith Mullan. "As a result of this growth and the appointment of several new staff, it was necessary to move to new premises."

The recent release of Axapta, Navision`s flagship product for large enterprises, has generated huge interest among new and existing users. The product has already received extremely favourable reviews overseas and is fast making inroads into the local market.

"Axapta`s design principal of one business logic, one database, one source code and one tool provides users with several key benefits. Besides reduced development and maintenance costs, users are assured that their data will never become redundant. As with any ASP offering, the application is easy to upgrade, and emerging technologies like WAP and XML are easy to harness. Additionally, the product makes for seamless integration into all parts of the business," explains Mullan.

"The really exciting prospects are in our recent announcement with IBM to deliver affordable, integrated e-business solutions that meet the unique needs of fast-growing small and medium-sized businesses (SMB). Combining powerful IBM eServer products with Navision software, the alliance addresses demand by SMB customers for comprehensive e-business solutions that are cost-effective, reliable and easy to manage.

"IBM commands a strong position in the local SMB market with its IBM eServer product line," says Mullan. "A major goal of the IBM-Navision relationship is to address the need for reliable, cost-effective, integrated server solutions for SMBs. Together, IBM and Navision make a perfect match, and our joint initiatives will bring new benefits to our partners and customers.

"These are the products that become part of a solution that not only benefit the efficiency of IT management, but on a far wider scale, are able improve the services provided by other departments within the organisation. With this broader scope, we are confident that we will continue to see strong demand in our traditional customer base, but, in addition, will see significant revenue from new customers," he concludes.
