NASCO to use EDS MetaVance

EDS to support healthcare operations for seven million NASCO members

EDS today announced Atlanta-based National Account Service Company, LLC (NASCO) has agreed to purchase EDS`s MetaVance Membership and Billing System to support healthcare administration for NASCO`s more than seven million members. NASCO will install and configure EDS`s MetaVance enterprise application system for its BlueCross* BlueShield* customer base.

"NASCO chose EDS`s MetaVance system over other competitors because it is the only product on the market today that can support our various business models," said Jinelle Rudder, director, NASCO Processing System, who led the system evaluation and selection. "MetaVance`s architecture, scalability, business-rich functionality, and ease of end-user business rules configuration will enable us to support millions of covered lives."

MetaVance: Healthcare market leadership

MetaVance is an enterprise system for healthcare organisations to support both managed care and indemnity health insurance operations. The system is designed on a flexible, adaptable client/server platform and can be customised to meet a client`s present and future needs to support operations such as claims processing, member eligibility and healthcare provider management. Through its MetaVance system, EDS is the largest provider of applications services for the commercial healthcare market with national clients such as Humana, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, and NASCO.

The MetaVance Membership and Billing system architecture for NASCO will support a seamless integration with the existing NASCO Processing System (NPS) claims system, increase electronic transaction volumes via electronic commercial capabilities, and improve levels of customer service to member plans by providing real-time updates of member data to reduce processing time. NASCO will further benefit from streamlined operations that support complex business models, including customer-centric product offerings.

"MetaVance supports NASCO`s ongoing need for a truly tiered, scalable solution as it provides healthcare administration for millions of NASCO members," said Mark J Roman, global leader, EDS Healthcare Industry Practice. "NASCO`s selection of MetaVance sends a clear message to companies that are making new healthcare system selections that EDS is the viable option for large-scale membership and billing systems. We are delighted to continue our longstanding relationship with NASCO."
