Mustek has launched its online business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce solution, designed and implemented on Linux by Obsidian Systems. The system offers the company`s dealers immediate access to stock and service information.
This marks the opening of Obsidian`s new e-business division, which thrusts the company into a strong market position to offer solutions based on Linux to South African businesses of all sizes.
The Mustek system was designed for B2B e-commerce, allowing for a stronger relationship between Mustek and its dealers. "We pride ourselves on our understanding of the Internet and the future impacts that it will have on small, medium and large businesses by enabling them with our fully customisable e-business solutions to provide the ability to communicate both with other businesses and the public," says Craig Rodney, marketing manager for Obsidian Systems.
"Mustek appointed Obsidian Systems to develop an e-business solution to integrate into our existing order entry system," says Donella Adams, e-business manager at Mustek. "The system has been designed to operate in conjunction with our sales team, allowing our dealers access to stock availability, pricing, product information, order status, account statements, bar code reference and the facility to order and quote online 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week, 365-days-a-year.
"E-commerce opens another channel of communication to our dealers, as well as adding value to Mustek`s product range and reducing transaction costs. Mustek`s e-commerce system will continue to accelerate in the coming years to meet the demands of the emerging digital economy."
Obsidian was contracted by Mustek to develop its core e-business application, and collaboration between the two companies has resulted in the customisation and integration of nearly all its business practices.
