MCI Consultants today announced that Muhanga Mines had utilised their ACCPAC and networking divisions to help them upgrade some of their financial applications and enhance the communication between their head office in Middleburg and their weighbridge loading station 15km away.
Muhanga Mines was running the ACCPAC for Windows General Ledger and Cashbook at their head office. Orders and distribution records were processed manually from the weighbridge site. Muhanga Mines wanted to upgrade their ACCPAC software to Version 5.5 and implement additional modules to automate their order process and streamline their accounting records.
In addition, an interface between the Trek Scale weighbridge system and ACCPAC was required for automation purposes, which would require testing with the Trek Scale developers.
“We engaged with MCI to assist us with the above activities,” commented Wihan Van Zyl of Muhanga Mines. “We were impressed with the professionalism shown by the company and are delighted at the end results.”
MCI undertook the following tasks to ensure a successful end result:
* The upgrade to ACCPAC 5.5; the implementation of the additional ACCPAC modules; the migration of the ACCPAC pervasive database to Microsoft SQL; the implementation of a facility to capture orders in ACCPAC remotely from the Goede Hoop site; the replication of the database in order to avoid downtime at the remote site; and general assistance with implementation and training.
* The installation and set-up of a 2008 Small Windows Server with an active directory that had six workstations and three notebooks configured. In addition, a file sharing capability, Microsoft Exchange and remote access were also set-up and configured.
* The installation and configuration of Trend Micro's Anti Virus to control virus management centrally on the domain.
* The establishment of a wireless PTP between weighbridge, office and workshop on site for Internet and file sharing.
* The set-up of VPNs from site to office using HSDPA and ADSL that was to be used for remote ACCPAC users.
Muhanga Mines is involved in mining and the selling of various coal products to key customers.
