MTN Network Solutions (NS) today launches a new offering, giving corporates free Internet access with unlimited local bandwidth, free GPRS for six months and a free firewall with its virtual private network (VPN) offering.
Stuart Hardy, MTN NS sales and marketing director, says most corporates run their networks at 100% and still don`t have the bandwidth they require. This offering will reduce local Internet bandwidth bottlenecks and boost network capacity, he says.
"Large corporates that purchase a VPN can literally triple their network capacity as well as their local Internet bandwidth, effectively removing all local bottlenecks."
Hardy says with corporates spending between R20 000 and R200 000 or more on local Internet bandwidth, those funds can be directed back into backbone connectivity issues or used as the corporate chooses.
"Corporates can now throw bandwidth at capacity issues because of the low incremental cost of backbone bandwidth instead of having to try employ complex bandwidth management products," he says.
Along with the VPN and free Internet access, the offering allows corporates to experiment with GPRS and mobile data applications.
"We are offering free GPRS connectivity with 100MB of data a month for six months, a saving of R36 000. This means that companies can now test the product first without having to commit to using it. And to top it off, we`ll provide a free Cisco firewall with the service," he says.
MTN NS is able to offer free local Internet access because of its integrated network, Hardy says.
"We have fully integrated Internet access and VPN network which means there is one network and one link, offering two services. Internet access and the firewall will therefore be free with the VPN forever."
