Microsoft, ApplyIT to highlight evolution of ERP

Johannesburg, 23 Jan 2004

Managing an organisation is no longer simply about managing your own internal business processes to effectively deliver products and services to customers; it is about leveraging relationships with suppliers, business partners and customers to gain competitive advantage.

Microsoft and ApplyIT, the local IT specialist for the mining and process manufacturing industry, and a Microsoft Business Solutions partner for Axapta, believe the need for coordination and collaboration means that a new generation of business applications are required to support this "virtual enterprise".

They will therefore host a joint presentation on Microsoft Business Solutions-Axapta on 3 February at Microsoft`s headquarters in Sunninghill, Johannesburg.

"Axapta is a world-class ERP solution designed for the future," says Gavin Halse, MD of ApplyIT. "It is based on powerful Microsoft technologies and is architected to provide accessible information to parties across the virtual enterprise. With integrated CRM and SCM capabilities, Microsoft Axapta provides deep vertical functionality as well as an open architecture that allows for easy integration with other solutions."

Halse stresses the presentation is not a product punt, but rather that it will look at some of the most pertinent issues facing business in SA today.

"The evolution from ERP to ERPII poses a serious challenge to traditional ERP vendors who must not only provide new vertical functionality, but also change architecturally to allow easier integration and access to information," Halse notes.

He says a further challenge is that today`s business leaders, having endured the uncertainty and excesses of previous ERP solutions, are looking for a new level of predictable business benefit which can only be derived from a significantly reduced cost base in both software product, implementation and assimilation.

"Because Axapta is uniquely positioned for automating both internal and external work processes and its design principal is based on one business logic, one database, one source code, and one tool, the solution offers a number of key benefits."

These include:

* Lower development and maintenance costs.

* No redundant data.

* No redundant business logic.

* Greater responsiveness to change.

* Easy-to-upgrade applications.

* Seamless integration to all parts of a business.

Company executives looking for an ERP solution, or considering how to move their business into the future with ERPII, are invited to contact Lara on (011) 461 1777 for more information about the presentation.
