The Tiscali mail service has been restored after one of the pop3 server processors died, says Andre Joubert, M-Web Business GM.
Tiscali SA became an arm of Internet service provider M-Web after it was acquired last year.
Tiscali clients in the Johannesburg area would have started experiencing e-mail problems from about lunchtime yesterday, said Joubert.
Once the problem was realised the service was restored at 9am today, he adds.
However, users may experience a slight time error due to the large amount of mail on the servers, "but nothing dramatic", said Joubert.
