A prominent producer of high-quality gravure-printed flexible packaging, M-Tech Plastics has contracted SAP Business One ERP business software and technology specialist 4most to supply, implement and support a SAP Business One financial and ERP software solution at its factory and head office in North Riding, Gauteng.
M-Tech Plastics is a 20-year-old producer of high-quality gravure-printed BOPP, PET and PVC films. Their products are sold throughout Africa, primarily to the FMCG sector, with special emphasis on supplying food companies.
Customers are mainly blue chip, underlining M-Tech's core competence in supplying high-quality gravure printed flexible packaging. Innovation has become a key to the success of this family business.
The major requirement of M-Tech Plastics was driven by the need for an ERP solution offering full financial services, production cost and waste management, an MRP (management resource planning) facility, as well as opportunity management, customer relationship management (CRM) and inventory and warehousing control.
“Production, MRP and warehouse management are the most important aspects of the solution for M-Tech Plastics,” said Alex Viviers, sales director at 4most.
“We are replacing standalone systems that could not be integrated. Also, data was being manually captured to update the accounting system. The new SAP Business One ERP solution will provide full, real-time integration and do away with manual capturing.”
The solution will result in some significant benefits for M-Tech's customers, including a facility that will allow them to log in to a customer portal, track production orders, access price lists and obtain specification sheets and certificates of conformance, among other services.
Viviers adds that M-Tech management will now have more time to focus on the business and its customers, as the ERP functionality and SAP Business One will totally streamline the finance and administration.
The solution includes local area networking as well as thin client capability, which will keep management in touch with the business when travelling. The system is scheduled to go live in mid-September.
