Lumia 720, 520 arrive in SA

Both the Nokia Lumia 720 and 520 will be available in South Africa from this month.

Nokia SA has announced its Windows Lumia 720 and 520 smartphones will be available in the country from this month.

The Nokia Lumia 720 combines Carl Zeiss optics with Nokia's largest f1.9 aperture, to deliver sharp pictures. It also has a HD-quality 1.3MP wide angle lens front-facing camera to allow group portraits, or to make video calls with Skype. Nokia digital camera lenses include Cinemagraph, Smart Shoot and Glam Me.

The curved 4.3-inch Clear Black Display gives the Nokia Lumia 720 a sensitive touch-screen that allows for wider viewing angles, and clarity in bright conditions. An optional wireless charging shell is also available.

Both the Nokia Lumia 720 and Nokia Lumia 520 come with the Here suite of applications, including Here Maps and Here Drive for free turn-by-turn navigation.

Nokia Music offers unlimited music streaming, free of adverts or subscription charges, and includes the ability to download playlists to listen offline.

Both handsets have 8GB mass memory and expandable 64GB memory slot.

The devices will be available locally in white, black and red, and are expected to start sales this month. Recommended retail price for the Nokia Lumia 520 is R1 899, while the Lumia 720 will retail from R5 699.

Last week, the Finnish manufacturer announced another addition to its low-cost phone range, the Asha 210. The qwerty keyboard-equipped phone is also the first to have a dedicated WhatsApp button.

Rumours also started surfacing last month that Nokia is possibly working on the Lumia 928. Images of the purported Lumia 928, said to be Nokia's next premium Windows smartphone following the Lumia 920, were leaked by tech leak tweeter @evleaks.
