Unisys Corporation today announced an agreement under which Lufthansa Systems AS, a premier information technology service provider, will offer the Unisys Customer Loyalty System (CLS). The agreement includes the CLS solution, business and technical services, and support and maintenance. Through this business arrangement, central-European airlines and other enterprises with a focus on customer loyalty will have more options than ever for the delivery, servicing and support of Unisys CLS - one of the world`s leading customer loyalty systems, with a proven track record in the airline industry.
Under the terms of the agreement, Lufthansa Systems AS will act as a Unisys certified partner for business consulting and technical support and maintenance for CLS. In addition, Unisys will promote Lufthansa Systems AS as its preferred service provider for CLS sales and services in Germany, Switzerland and Austria.
"We are extremely pleased to have the opportunity to offer Unisys Customer Loyalty System to our customers through this business partnership with Unisys," said Horst Maury, managing director, Lufthansa Systems AS. "We have a rich portfolio of IT products and services, but needed a world-class loyalty system for our clients. A thorough evaluation of the marketplace led us to conclude that Unisys CLS was by far the market leader. We have begun marketing Unisys CLS to our customer base, and already have several companies interested in the solution."
Part of the Lufthansa Group, Lufthansa Systems AS ranks as a premier information technology service provider for different industries, including the aerospace, shipping and travel industries. Unisys CLS will be integrated into the Lufthansa Systems AS broad family of products and solutions for systems engineering, application development, data and systems management, and desktop and network services.
"With the fabulous success of Unisys CLS in the airline marketplace, we recognize that broader support and implementation resources are required to make it a global standard for a wider market," said Michael McNamara, managing principal, Unisys Worldwide Transportation. "Lufthansa Systems AS brings a strong, quality track record in the computer services market to our partnership. We`ll look to leverage their wide-ranging experience, so we are better positioned to meet more diverse customer requirements than ever."
Unisys CLS enables airlines to enhance their revenue potential by personalizing customer service offerings, and expanding benefits for frequently travelling passengers. The system allows airlines to access detailed customer profiles through one centralized database, eliminating the need to maintain customer records in several disparate databases. By making the internal management of information more efficient, Unisys CLS provides airlines with better tracking of passenger preferences and fulfilment of their expectations, which is particularly important in tailoring and implementing traveller programs. In addition, CLS lets marketers create tailored promotions. For example, with the information in the database, Marketing can target offerings to any group of customers - whether classical music lovers or those flying Monday through Friday from Frankfurt to London in economy class.
Unisys CLS enables airline and travel organizations to maintain one cost-effective, automated loyalty program that is Year 2000-ready. Airline agents work through a simple graphical user interface that can be accessed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, without any scheduled downtime for database updates and system administration.
