SOS Tool & Die, the Brits-based automotive components, parts and press tooling manufacturer, has contracted mid-market ERP business and technology solutions provider Lorge to supply and implement an SAP Business One financial and ERP software solution.
In conjunction with the Automotive Industry Development Centre (AIDC), SOS Tool & Die implemented a continuous improvement programme at the beginning of 2007, after an AIDC analysis found the company needed an ERP software solution to improve the availability and transparency of real-time production, stock and scheduling information.
Lorge bid for and won the contract on an open tender, managed by the AIDC, and after a lengthy evaluation process, SAP Business One emerged as the package offering the best all-round solution to the in-house constraints that SOS Tool & Die was facing.
"SAP Business One will provide a single integrated platform that will enable SOS Tool & Die to combine its accounting, production, purchasing, sales and stock management into a single easy to use and manage platform," said Alex Viviers of Lorge Corporate sales. "The SAP solution will provide accurate information and reports in real-time that will assist management to administer the business more effectively."
SOS Tool & Die was founded in 1983. Today the company employs 65 people and is equipped with modern mechanical and hydraulic facilities, welding machinery, an acid bath and 500-ton presses.
The company builds its own dies and uses them on multiple presses to form automotive parts out of varying types and grades of steel for a number of major motor manufacturers. All of the parts are produced to customer specifications and meet stringent quality standards. The Brits plant has SABS ISO/TS 16949:2002 quality management system accreditation.
Viviers adds that SOS Tool & Die will gain a significant advantage from the capabilities of the SAP Business One software`s stock management module, which integrates with the production module. A variety of bills of materials are used and this process will be streamlined, enabling SOS Tool & Die to produce and then deliver high quality parts, on schedule, to customers. The SAP Business One solution will go live during October.
