One of the world's largest mine drilling services companies, the Major Drilling Group International of Canada, has contracted branded business and technology solutions provider and implementer Lorge to provide Accpac ERP 500 accounting software solutions for its offices in South Africa (Pretoria), Namibia (Windhoek) and Botswana (Francistown).
Lorge Accpac division managing consultant Andries Wolmarans said the systems for Pretoria and Windhoek have been completed and the Francistown Accpac installation is scheduled to take place at the end of September.
Major Drilling is listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange and maintains field operations and offices in Canada, the United States, South and Central America, Asia, Africa and Australia. A wide range of drilling services is offered, including surface and underground coring, as well as directional, reverse circulation, RAB (rotary air blast), geotechnical and environmental drilling.
The Accpac solution includes General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cashbook, Purchase Orders and Inventory Control. Wolmarans says the switch to Accpac in Major Drilling's Africa operations is to provide full compatibility with the head office financial systems and requirements in Toronto.
A very powerful financial software program, the Accpac ERP 500 solution replaces an older accounting system more suited to smaller companies and Wolmarans says it will enable the Major Drilling operations in Africa to fully report in to head office on a project-by-project basis.
Major Drilling Group International is committed to protecting the environment and complies with environmental regulations to ensure the preservation of natural resources integrity. Its work is carried out to acceptable industry standards in all of the countries within which it operates.
