LOOPHOLD Security Distribution has announced the availability of Barracuda Networks' Application Gateway NC500 AG, an enterprise-class Web Application Controller which secures web applications and enables South African companies to adhere to global card processing standards such as Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) certification.

The Barracuda Application Gateway NC 500 AG safeguards local companies' IT infrastructures against web application threats such as SQL injections, cross-site scripting attacks, session tampering and buffer overflows.
The NC 500 AG gateway not only blocks inbound attacks but also filters outgoing traffic thus preventing harmful data leakage. Furthermore, it also simplifies companies' device management as it integrates traffic management capabilities that include caching, compression and load balancing which in turn results in increased performance and application availability.
The Barracuda Application Gateway NC 500 AG comprises the Barracuda Web Application Firewall and Barracuda Application Gateway. Acting as proxy for web traffic to insulate web servers from hacker attacks, the NC 500 AG secures web sites against 10 major web vulnerabilities as compiled by Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP).
The PCI DSS was created in response to the need for stronger information security and a single approach to safeguarding sensitive data for all card brands. The collaboration of Visa and MasterCard and the subsequent alignment of Visa's Account Information Security Programme (AIS) and MasterCard's Site Data Protection (SDP) Programme has led to the formation of a worldwide standard for consumer data protection across the payment industry.
