LiveOffice gets compliance for MS Office 365

LiveOffice, a provider of cloud-based e-mail archiving, e-mail compliance, e-mail discovery and e-mail continuity solutions, has introduced compliance and e-discovery capabilities for Microsoft Office 365, reports Business Wire.

LiveOffice allows enterprises to move to Microsoft's cloud-based collaboration solution. Content created in Microsoft Exchange Online and Microsoft SharePoint Online can be captured, retained, searched and supervised in one integrated system.

Dean Nicolls, VP of Marketing at LiveOffice, explains that its customers want to move strategic content to the cloud, eChannel Line says.

“To deal with these headaches, we have built in a directory sync functionality, so they can now sync data from active directory and manage users there. Office 365 users can use that familiar interface, and can manage all users directly from the Exchange Management Console.”

The Los Angeles Times reveals that in rolling out Office 365, the online version of its ubiquitous Microsoft Office suite, Microsoft is looking to catch up to rival Google in the race to move content residing on local computers to remote data centres accessible from anywhere.

Office 365 will allow company employees to edit and store Word documents, Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations online and communicate with one another via e-mail, instant message or video chat as they work on projects together.

Cloud proponents say companies can cut costs by getting rid of their own servers - which are expensive and require frequent maintenance and security updates - and allowing technology firms like Microsoft and Google to handle the hard work of supplying businesses' computing needs.
