Venture Computer, the sole distributor in Southern Africa for Lexmark International, today announced that Lexmark has opened its new contract electronics manufacturing (CEM) plant in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico. The plant, announced earlier this year, is the second such facility opened by Lexmark in the last twelve months. It is designed to provide the company with the added capacity needed to address the growing demands for printed circuit board assemblies.
"`In less than one year, Lexmark have opened two new CEM facilities, one in Brno, Czech Republic and now this one in Reynosa, Mexico,`` commented Richard Fearon, Business Development Director of Venture Computer. "Opening the Reynosa facility demonstrates Lexmark`s commitment to serving customers in that region and gives them even more capacity to serve customers around the world.``
The new plant is strategically located in the north-eastern region of Mexico, just a few miles from the southern tip of the U.S. border, near McAllen, Texas. It is close to several major transportation points of entry, making access between the U.S. and Mexico quick and easy. Lexmark also chose Reynosa because of its established skilled worker base that has played a critical role in getting the facility up to speed and servicing customer orders.
The Reynosa facility is implementing the same established, "copy exact`` processes which Lexmark has had in place for several years. The Lexington and Brno facilities deliver two-hour cycle times, providing customers with a great deal of flexibility in their designs. This flexibility continues to be a key element for attracting new customers to Lexmark.
