Leon partners with EMP Group to launch retail credit in Zimbabwe

Leon Business Solutions has successfully launched a consumer finance and credit issuing portfolio using the EMP Group (formerly ACET Processing) retail payments solutions processing platform.

Leon, led by a management team with considerable international experience, has partnered with leading retailer groups in Zimbabwe in order to issue responsible credit, which will help drive retail turnover and meet consumer demand in this rapidly evolving economy. Leon will be making use of the flexibility of the EMP VisionPLUS* platform, which provides complete end-to-end management of the consumer life cycle, from initial credit vetting, through customer management, to delinquent collections.

Tinashe Murapata, CEO at Leon Business Solutions, states: "International best practice has proven the value to retailers in partnering with a responsible consumer finance organisation in order to drive retail turnover and grow market share. In turn, Leon is excited to partner with EMP to realise long-term value through outsourcing the core processing services to a world-class service provider that is an expert in the retail payments field."

Mike Crawley, CEO of EMP Southern Africa, states: "We are very enthused by this partnership with Leon. Leon now has access to world-class system functionality, product support and scalability, allowing it to future-proof its investment. The rapid implementation of the project is also testament to the considerable expertise of the EMP team."

Paul Edwards, Executive Chairman of the EMP Group, said: "This is a very exciting project for our group as we extend our footprint further across the region. There is a lot of untapped potential in the Zimbabwean market and we look forward to a long and mutually beneficial partnership."
